Spring Thoughts

The leaves blow cool, moonlight falls,
brilliant against the trees.
A car horn speaks.

The thoughts pass through, lingering briefly,
echoes demanding notice, gone.
A dog responds.

A cool sip, a long reflection,
wipes away concerns of past.
A thought returns.

A trifle, really, unless one knows
the power this single thought bounds.
The challenge begins.

Meaning little to those outside,
absorbs attention completely now.
The world fades.

Old facts recalled, latest news compared,
Associations and logic remove the clutter.
Battle ground is determined.

Factions debate, lines are moved,
arguments new and old are sung.
Time passes.

A pastor's speech, a madman's rave,
all are taken in and weighed.
The balance shifts.

Things seen differently, life is altered,
the world you used to know is changed.
Sight and sound returns.

The leaves blow cool, moonlight falls,
brilliant against the trees.
A car horn speaks.
